Meet Gill from Wanneroo Central News
Meet Gill, Wanneroo local and dedicated force behind Wanneroo Central News. As someone with deep roots in Wanneroo and a love for community and customers, Gill is all about bringing great service to this amazing community. Before working here, Gill was a nurse at Joondalup Health Campus and left her role there following an incident that left her recovering for two years and unable to return to nursing. She was delighted when Frank offered her the role at Wanneroo Central News!

Can you tell us how long you have been working here and what do you enjoy most about Wanneroo Central?
I have been working here for 19 months but have lived in Wanneroo for 36 years. In fact, I remember trolley riding with my husband on the land before the centre was built! I love that I know everyone here and that I get to build great relationships with customers. We have regular customers that come in and I love chatting to them.
Do you think Wanneroo Central News makes customers lives easier?
Yes, I like to give people the time of day when they come in. I know lots of customers by name and I like to hear about their day. In store we have lots of gifts and unique items to purchase as well as greeting cards, magazines and we also photocopy for just 40c a sheet!
What's your favourite thing instore at the moment?
The diffusers smell beautiful; my favourite scent is orange and grapefruit.
What is the first thing you do when you come into store every day?
I smile because I love it here.
Do you have a favourite time of the year?
I love Christmas, the atmosphere, the excitement!
Name two things you like most about working at Wanneroo Central?
Socialising in the centre, having a cuppa with friends and I also like to bring my grandkids in to visit EB Games.
What was your dream job as a child?
I always wanted to be a vet, I got close - working as a nurse. I use my nursing skills in my volunteer role at the Native Animal Rescue and it aligns very well.
What personal passions are you working on?
I volunteer at the Native Animal Rescue in Malaga, it means a lot to me, and I have a donation tin on the counter. I hand rear birds and take care of all sorts of native animals to nurse them back to health.
